CHATH PIER SATH
116 Sawyer Road, Bolton, Massachusetts 01740

Chath Pier Sath went to the United States as a refugee in 1981 at the age of 10. While growing up in the United States, he had always intended to return to his homeland, using his education to help rebuild his country in some way. Since he returned to Cambodia for the first time in 1994 to work as a volunteer for the Cambodian-American National Development Organization (CANDO), he has lived between his adopted home in the United States and in Cambodia, contributing his skills to a variety of development organizations. Over the last 13 years, Chath has brought his unique perspective and experience to local non-governmental organizations during various stages of their development by assisting them in fundraising, program operations and strategic planning. Chath is an experienced facilitator and trainer, having facilitated strategic planning and program designs for Human Rights Vigilance of Cambodia and Cambodian Volunteers for Community Development, among others. He has been at the forefront of fundraising efforts for Cambodian NGOs in the areas of public health, human rights, and the arts. His strength in strategic thinking and writing has allowed him to assist these organizations in conceptualizing and designing programs and writing successful proposals for funders. He is fluent in English and Khmer, with an intermediate knowledge of French, an asset that he has brought to all of his professional endeavors, allowing him to liaise between local and international organizations and officials of all levels. He has worked extensively in the area of mental health, in positions ranging from work with street children on psycho-social issues to raising awareness of HIV and AIDS prevention with Cambodia's lesbian, transgender and gay community. An accomplished self-taught artist, Chath has brought his creativity to his work in development, using drama, visual art, and dance in mental health education and community outreach. In addition to paid positions, Chath has been an active member of every community he has called home, serving on several boards of non-profits as well as giving of his time volunteering.
